Welcome to DevShowcase, a global platform built by BraxCode Digitals Foundation, based in Mwanza, Tanzania 🇹🇿.
We are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over your information.
By using DevShowcase, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
We collect the following information when you use DevShowcase:
- Account Information — Your name, email address, and password when you sign up, or the name, email address and profile picture we receive from Google or GitHub if you sign in with them
- Profile Information — Your role, bio, skills, WhatsApp number, GitHub, LinkedIn, and website links
- Location Data — Your approximate location (city and country) and approximate coordinates (rounded to about 1 km), detected via GPS only with your permission. Coordinates are stored privately and are never shown publicly Project Data — Project names, descriptions, screenshots, tech stack, and live links you upload
- Usage Data — Reactions, comments, and interactions on the platform
- Device Information — Browser type and device type for improving user experience
- Guest Activity — If you react or comment without an account, we store your reaction or comment and a random anonymous ID saved in your browser
- Views & Notifications — We record views of your projects and profile so we can show you view counts and notify you
We use your information to:
- Display your developer profile and projects publicly on the platform
- Connect you with potential clients who are looking for developers
- Show location-based results to help clients find developers near them
- Send important account notifications (email verification, password reset)
- Improve the platform based on usage patterns
- Respond to your support requests
- List your profile in the Developers directory and the project gallery
- Make your public profile page discoverable by search engines such as Google
- Notify you when your projects get views, reactions or comments
- Protect the platform from abuse, for example by rate limiting sign-ins and AI chat requests, which may use your IP address
We do NOT use your information for advertising or sell it to third parties.
We share your information with the following trusted service providers only:
- Supabase — Our database and authentication provider. Your data is stored securely on their servers.
- Groq AI — Powers our AI customer care assistant. Only your chat messages are processed — we do not share personal data.
- Google & GitHub — If you choose to sign in with them, they share your name, email and profile picture with us.
- Vercel — Hosts the website and our server functions, so they process your requests, including your IP address.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) — Receives your coordinates to convert them into a city and country.
We do not share your personal information with any other third parties without your explicit consent.
Some of these providers process data on servers outside Tanzania.
DevShowcase uses your location to help clients find developers in their region.
- We request GPS permission from your browser when you create an account, or when you sign in with Google or GitHub and have no saved location. We ask once per device, and you can deny it and the platform still works
- Your coordinates are rounded to about 1 km and converted into a city and country using OpenStreetMap
- If you deny permission, we do not estimate or store your location
- Your coordinates are never shown publicly. Only your country appears on your public profile
- To change or remove your saved location, contact us
We take security seriously and implement the following measures:
- All data is stored on Supabase — encrypted at rest and in transit (HTTPS)
- Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed by Supabase Auth
- Row Level Security (RLS) ensures you can only access and modify your own data
- Rate limits on sign-in and AI chat requests help protect against abuse
However, no system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — Request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Update — Edit your profile and project information at any time from your dashboard
- Delete — Delete your account yourself from your dashboard (Delete Account), or contact us. Your data is removed within 30 days
- Portability — Request your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent — Stop using the platform and request data removal at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via WhatsApp or email.
DevShowcase uses the following browser storage:
- localStorage — To keep an anonymous ID that identifies you as a guest, so your reactions as a guest are linked to your browser. Your AI chat lasts only while the page is open
- Supabase session — Stored in your browser to keep you signed in to your developer account
- Location prompt marker — A small item in localStorage that remembers we already asked for location permission on this device, so we don't ask again
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
DevShowcase is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account immediately.
DevShowcase is a public platform. The following information is visible to anyone, including people without an account:
- Your name, role, bio, skills, country and profile picture
- Your projects, screenshots and live links, plus reactions and comments on them
- Links you add, such as GitHub or your website
- Your WhatsApp number — visitors can use it to message you directly
Your email address is not shown publicly.
Profile pages can be indexed by search engines like Google, so people may find your profile when they search your name. If you delete your account, we remove your data from DevShowcase, but search engines may keep cached copies for some time.
Only add information you are comfortable sharing publicly. If you do not want direct contact, leave the WhatsApp field empty.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of DevShowcase after changes means you accept the updated policy.
Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of DevShowcase, operated by BraxCode Digitals Foundation, Mwanza, Tanzania.
By creating an account or using DevShowcase, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
When you create an account on DevShowcase, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and truthful information about yourself and your projects
- Keep your password secure and not share it with others
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
- Be at least 16 years old to create an account
You may use DevShowcase to:
- Showcase your genuine development projects
- Connect with potential clients and employers
- React to and comment on other developers' projects
- Build your professional developer profile
You may NOT use DevShowcase to:
- Post projects that are not your own work without proper attribution
- Upload offensive, illegal, or harmful content
- Impersonate other developers or create fake profiles
- Spam other users or send unsolicited messages
- Attempt to hack, scrape, or disrupt the platform
- Use the platform for any illegal activities
- Post misleading information about your skills or experience
- Harass or threaten other users
- Collect developers' contact details (such as WhatsApp numbers) for spam, scams or unsolicited marketing
- Post fake reactions or comments, or manipulate rankings
- Bypass rate limits or misuse the AI assistant
Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension or deletion.
When you upload projects, descriptions, or images to DevShowcase:
- You retain full ownership of your content
- You grant DevShowcase a license to display your content on the platform and to make your public profile and projects discoverable through search engines and link previews
- You confirm that you have the right to share the content you upload
- You are responsible for ensuring your content does not violate anyone's copyright
- Your name, photo, bio and any contact details you add (including your WhatsApp number) are public
- You are responsible for comments and reactions you post, including as a guest, and we may remove them if they break these Terms
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms.
DevShowcase is a platform that connects developers and clients. Important to understand:
- We are not a party to any agreement between developers and clients
- We do not guarantee that you will find work or clients through the platform
- All payments, contracts, and agreements are directly between developers and clients
- We are not responsible for disputes between developers and clients
- We recommend always using written agreements for any freelance work
- Conversations on WhatsApp, email or elsewhere take place outside DevShowcase, and we are not responsible for them
- We do not take any commission on deals you make with clients
- We cannot verify the identity of every user, so please verify clients before starting work
DevShowcase currently offers free access to all features. In the future, paid features (Pro Badge, Featured Listings) may be introduced.
- All paid features will be clearly communicated before purchase
- Payments are currently processed manually via WhatsApp and mobile money
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us within 7 days
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice
DevShowcase is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- That the platform will be available 100% of the time
- That you will find clients or employment through the platform
- That all developer profiles and projects are accurate
We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of DevShowcase, including lost business opportunities or data loss.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms of Service
- You engage in fraudulent or harmful behavior
- Your account is reported multiple times by other users
You may delete your own account at any time from your dashboard (Delete Account). Upon deletion, your data will be removed within 30 days.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any disputes will be resolved under Tanzanian law.
