We are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over your information.
By using DevShowcase, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
We collect the following information when you use DevShowcase:
- Account Information — Your name, email address, and password when you sign up
- Profile Information — Your role, bio, skills, WhatsApp number, GitHub, LinkedIn, and website links
- Location Data — Your approximate location (city and country) detected via GPS or IP address, used to connect you with nearby clients
- Project Data — Project names, descriptions, screenshots, tech stack, and live links you upload
- Usage Data — Reactions, comments, and interactions on the platform
- Device Information — Browser type and device type for improving user experience
We use your information to:
- Display your developer profile and projects publicly on the platform
- Connect you with potential clients who are looking for developers
- Show location-based results to help clients find developers near them
- Send important account notifications (email verification, password reset)
- Improve the platform based on usage patterns
- Respond to your support requests
We do NOT use your information for advertising or sell it to third parties.
We share your information with the following trusted service providers only:
- Supabase — Our database and authentication provider. Your data is stored securely on their servers.
- Groq AI — Powers our AI customer care assistant. Only your chat messages are processed — we do not share personal data.
- ipapi.co — Used for IP-based location detection when GPS is not available.
We do not share your personal information with any other third parties without your explicit consent.
DevShowcase uses your location to help clients find developers in their region and to show you relevant local opportunities.
- We request GPS permission from your browser — you can deny this and the platform still works
- If GPS is denied, we use your IP address to estimate your location
- Your exact GPS coordinates are never shown publicly — only your city and country
- You can update your location from your profile settings at any time
We take security seriously and implement the following measures:
- All data is stored on Supabase — encrypted at rest and in transit (HTTPS)
- Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed by Supabase Auth
- Row Level Security (RLS) ensures you can only access and modify your own data
- Admin access is password protected and not accessible to regular users
However, no system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — Request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Update — Edit your profile and project information at any time from your dashboard
- Delete — Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability — Request your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent — Stop using the platform and request data removal at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via WhatsApp or email.
DevShowcase uses the following browser storage:
- localStorage — To remember your reactions on projects and AI chat history
- sessionStorage — To keep you logged into the admin panel during your session
- Supabase session cookies — To keep you logged in to your developer account
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
DevShowcase is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of DevShowcase after changes means you accept the updated policy.
Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of DevShowcase, operated by BraxCode Digitals Foundation, Mwanza, Tanzania.
By creating an account or using DevShowcase, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
When you create an account on DevShowcase, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and truthful information about yourself and your projects
- Keep your password secure and not share it with others
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
- Be at least 13 years old to create an account
You may use DevShowcase to:
- Showcase your genuine development projects
- Connect with potential clients and employers
- React to and comment on other developers' projects
- Build your professional developer profile
You may NOT use DevShowcase to:
- Post projects that are not your own work without proper attribution
- Upload offensive, illegal, or harmful content
- Impersonate other developers or create fake profiles
- Spam other users or send unsolicited messages
- Attempt to hack, scrape, or disrupt the platform
- Use the platform for any illegal activities
- Post misleading information about your skills or experience
- Harass or threaten other users
Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension or deletion.
When you upload projects, descriptions, or images to DevShowcase:
- You retain full ownership of your content
- You grant DevShowcase a license to display your content on the platform
- You confirm that you have the right to share the content you upload
- You are responsible for ensuring your content does not violate anyone's copyright
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms.
DevShowcase is a platform that connects developers and clients. Important to understand:
- We are not a party to any agreement between developers and clients
- We do not guarantee that you will find work or clients through the platform
- All payments, contracts, and agreements are directly between developers and clients
- We are not responsible for disputes between developers and clients
- We recommend always using written agreements for any freelance work
DevShowcase currently offers free access to all features. In the future, paid features (Pro Badge, Featured Listings) may be introduced.
- All paid features will be clearly communicated before purchase
- Payments are currently processed manually via WhatsApp and mobile money
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us within 7 days
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice
DevShowcase is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- That the platform will be available 100% of the time
- That you will find clients or employment through the platform
- That all developer profiles and projects are accurate
We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of DevShowcase, including lost business opportunities or data loss.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms of Service
- You engage in fraudulent or harmful behavior
- Your account is reported multiple times by other users
You may delete your own account at any time from your dashboard settings. Upon deletion, your data will be removed within 30 days.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any disputes will be resolved under Tanzanian law.
